School Readiness Program

Dear Parents,

We are delighted to announce the SEK Budapest’s School Preparation Programme, designed for preschool children who will soon begin their school journey.

This 8+1 session programme provides a playful, engaging and supportive environment where children can develop the skills they need for a confident start to school. Through age-appropriate activities and experiences, children will become familiar with key aspects of school life while getting to know the international and bilingual environment of SEK Budapest.

The sessions include activities in both Hungarian and English, allowing children to encounter English naturally through play and everyday interactions. At the same time, the programme supports the development of communication, cooperation, independence and openness to languages.

The small group size allows our educators to pay close attention to each child’s individual characteristics and pace of development, while shared activities and experiences encourage social and collaborative skills.

Why take part?

• Playful preparation for school
  The programme supports the development of the key skills needed for starting school through playful, engaging and age-appropriate activities.
• Getting to know the SEK environment
  Children have the opportunity to become familiar with the school environment, its spaces and everyday school situations before they officially start school. This can help them feel more confident and secure when the time comes to begin their school journey.
• A Hungarian–English language environment
  Children are exposed to both languages throughout the programme. English is introduced naturally through playful activities and meaningful interactions, allowing children to experience a bilingual environment in a positive and enjoyable way.
• Small-group learning
  With 5–10 children per group, educators can provide individual attention and support each child’s development while creating opportunities for meaningful interaction and cooperation.
• Professional feedback at the end of the programme
  At the end of the programme, parents receive a written assessment outlining their child’s development, key skills related to school readiness, and any areas that may benefit from further support.
• Getting to know SEK before starting school
  The programme gives children and their families an opportunity to become more familiar with the educational approach and environment at SEK Budapest. If the child is admitted, there is no separate admission procedure.
